The Healthcare Ethics Consultant will provide ethics consultations, organize, and participate in clinical ethics rounds and other educational offerings, and collaborate with clinical teams, patients, and families to address ethical issues in health care. Serve on the Nebraska Medicine Equity and Ethics Committee, to include education, consultation expertise, and policy review. Support Nebraska Medicine's culture and inclusion initiatives in order to facilitate change to strengthen moral community.
Required Qualifications: Healthcare Ethics Consultant
- Minimum of two years clinical bioethics experience required OR if fewer than two years' experience requires specific acknowledgement and approval from the Ethics Director required.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills to mediate moral disagreements or concerns required.
- Ability to develop consensus, compromises, or other ethically acceptable resolutions required.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess the ethical rationales for different goals and treatment options in the care of specific patients, including a facility with the language, concepts, and methods of clinical ethics required.
- Ability to conduct and facilitate ethics-specific communications within multidisciplinary teams and between teams and patients/families required.
- Ability to facilitate and lead meetings required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal modes required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality required.
- Healthcare Ethics Consultant certified within 24 months of transfer or hire required.
Preferred Qualifications: Healthcare Ethics Consultant
- Master's degree or PhD in bioethics or related field preferred.
- Healthcare Ethics Consultant certified (HEC-C, via ASBH certification exam) preferred.
